Based in Houston, TX, Gnojo Systems was founded in 2003 to provide cutting edge digital media products for the home. Gnojo Systems' founder, Steve Hebert, was inspired to start the company when he first began to conceptualize a high performance Media PC that was consumer friendly and aesthetically attractive, and realized there was very little out there. "When I first started the company in 2003, most Media PCs had the form factor of traditional PCs. I liked the idea of developing a product that simplified a consumer's need for multiple media appliances, and was physically simple and small in size. Ease of use was also important. I knew there was a market for Media PCs out there that went beyond technologically-savvy, HTPC users. There are 20-somethings and baby-boomers with immense media collections (music, video, digital photos) who want a simple system for storing and enjoying their media."
Gnojo Systems' solution to this market need was GUAVA Media Center, a personal computer optimized and targeted specifically for digital media applications. GUAVA is one of the industry's smallest form factors. It runs in a traditional living room or home theater setting and represents a departure from the usual bulky and noisy PC tower configuration.
After exploring other software partners, Gnojo's choice to go with Meedio Essentials was an easy one. "When you are navigating through a software interface to access your media, you want it to look nice, but even more than that you want to select your music, movies or photos efficiently, without the bells and whistles of the software getting in the way," said Gnojo's Steve Hebert. "We were immediately drawn to Meedio because the interface is among the best in the industry, but more importantly, because of the flexibility and efficiency of the platform."
Gnojo Systems and Meedio also share the goal of providing a high quality product that consumers can customize to meet their own needs. Gnojo Systems not only helps its customers make informed decisions, the company will also design and build custom systems to meet the particular media uses/needs of the customer. The company is currently developing their next-generation media center - a Meedio-based appliance called G2, which brings multi-room capability to any consumer with a digital media collection. The G2 can be used with an existing HTPC, a storage server or any network attached digital media. "The past two years we've seen an explosion in Media PCs. We believe the next wave is to bring the technology to more consumers in the form of a mass market appliance." G2 will be available in summer 2005 with an expected retail price of $399.00.
